A solid math foundation in basic math concepts is essential to future success in mathematics.

Math-U-See focuses on Building Understanding. What began as a simple, effective way to show students “why” math works has grown into an award-winning K-12 program, products focused on specific intervention strategies, and a classroom system that can be used alongside any existing curriculum. Find the product that’s right for you!

Why Math-U-See?

Teach how and why

We teach the how and why

Our curriculum is conceptual: we want students to go beyond memorization, to see how the concepts they are learning can be applied practically to solve real problems. To structure this deep learning, our curriculum relies on a systematic and cumulative approach that is definite and logical.

Mastery and Fundamental Skills

Mastery and Fundamental Skills

Our curriculum is designed for the individual learner: students are placed according to their ability and advance at their own pace upon demonstrating mastery of each new concept. We emphasize fundamental skills like order of operations and algebraic reasoning. The application of those fundamental skills help to broaden the student’s general mathematical understanding.

Hands on Learning

Hands-on Learning

Our curriculum relies on manipulatives to enable students to develop concrete understandings of mathematical concepts. Our students use these manipulatives at every stage of their learning, from early number sense all the way through quadratic equations. The instructional approach is balanced between open-ended discovery and guided explorations of mathematical concepts.

Thank you so much! It used to be so hard for my kids to do their math because it never explained how to do it. This has helped my four kids over the years to become very good in math! -Celeste S.

Math-U-See Curriculum

Our curriculum is not grade based. We believe that students should start at their individual level of mastery.

Our curriculum has 13 levels, extending from kindergarten through calculus. While each level concentrates on a specific set of skills, other math concepts are introduced where appropriate. Each level continuously reviews and integrates topics and concepts presented in previous levels to prepare a solid foundation.

Students are then enabled to apply these concepts to algebra and other upper-level courses. The upper six levels follow a fairly traditional order while remaining true to the Math-U-See methodology.

Accelerated Individual Mastery (AIM)

Accelerated Individualized Mastery (AIM) programs provide a solution for students who are struggling with math because of gaps in their foundational math skills set. Students who experience these gaps in understanding can experience difficulty processing complex mathematical concepts as their mental energy is consumed by processing fundamental skills. The AIM programs use proven Math-U-See strategies and distinctive manipulatives in combination with an accelerated approach to help students successfully master math concepts.

Using Manipulatives

Our manipulatives are used throughout our programs to demonstrate mathematical concepts in a concrete and interactive manner. Our kits include the Integer Block Kit, Fraction Overlay Kit, and Algebra/Decimal Insert Kit. These visual aids are integral to the Build, Write, Say method used in Math-U-See.

Students use our manipulatives to work through a full range of mathematical concepts including numbers and counting, operations, fractions, decimals, integers, roots, exponents, and algebraic expressions.

In addition to being highly effective visual aids for learning math, our manipulatives are also fun for students to use.
