Homeschooling can seem like a daunting task. So many rules and regulations! So many curriculum choices! Socialization - yikes! What if you mess something up? What if you break your child?!
Spoiler alert: You won't. And if you make a mistake/wrong curriculum choice/over-commit to activities, guess what? You can change it. Thousands and thousands of families homeschool. All kinds of families. Big ones, small ones, medium ones, blended ones, single-parent ones -- literally all kinds. The wonderful flexibility provided, combined with the ability to keep tweaking the process until it's just right for your child -- those are the reasons that draw families to homeschool, and the very same reasons that homeschooled kids are at least as successful academically as traditionally educated students.
Once viewed by the public at large as something strange and suspicious, only undertaken by extremists and social outcasts, homeschoolers have been smashing stereotypes left and right. Unsocialized? Nope. Unprepared for higher education or a career? Wrong. Awkward eggheads? Not at all (well, at least not at a higher percentage than other kids!). The regulations vary by state, but homeschooling is a viable option all over the United States. The legal obstacles are much less than you might think, and the upside has no limit!
We've put together an eBook of resources that can help you think through your decision, to determine if it is the best choice for your student, your family, and yourself at this time. The key phrase there? "At this time." While you will want to stick with it long enough to see if it does or does not work for you, remember that you are not stuck. It's not a permanent decision; many homeschool families only homeschool for a few years, just for the amount of time that it makes sense for them. You can always make a new decision if and when your lives change -- a new job, a new baby, a new hometown, or no specific reason at all.
So with that in mind, download our eBook to learn more about homeschooling, how to get started, available resources, suggestions and advice from seasoned veterans, and much more. We'll give you plenty of information to make a more informed decision. And remember--you got this! No one knows your child better than you do. We trust parents, and we have confidence that you will make the right decision for YOUR situation.
