It’s important to note that we will not be reprinting these materials. Once our stock has run out, they will no longer be available through Demme Learning. You can find our limited remaining inventory at this link: Demme Learning Store

What are the differences?

This chart will give you a side-by-side comparison of the previous program (Junior Analytical Grammar, Junior Analytical Grammar Mechanics, and Analytical Grammar) and new versions of the main program (Levels 1–5).

The High School Reinforcement, Beyond the Book Report, and The Eternal Argument products have not been updated.

Are the previous books and the new books compatible with each other?

No, the content has been rewritten and new material has been added. Elements, including the DVD’s of the old editions will not correlate with the new program.

Should we switch to the new offerings?

While the decision is ultimately up to you, here are some general suggestions and things to keep in mind when determining if you should switch.

Previous editions will, at some point, no longer be offered by Demme Learning. If you are planning for several years’ worth of instruction, you may want to consider switching to ensure you have easy access to the materials you need.

If you’re using the previous Analytical Grammar:

  • You likely have everything you need to complete the program. If you are in rhythm and happy with the structure and content, consider continuing with the materials you already have.

    Some things to note:
    •  It is suggested to use the Review and Reinforcement book along with the Analytical Grammar book. This book is helpful if you’ve decided to take a break between seasons one and two. This book will not be reprinted once we run out of stock.

Additionally, Application & Enrichment pages have been added to every lesson within Levels 3–5 that cover concepts that complement what has been covered in the lessons.

    • If you choose to switch from the Analytical Grammar book, use the following chart to help you determine which level of the new materials to move onto:
In Analytical Grammar, my student
has completed:
They can move into:
Season 1Level 4: Phrases and Clauses
Season 2Level 5: Punctuation and Usage
Season 3High School Reinforcements

If you are using Junior Analytical Grammar and/or Junior Analytical Grammar: Mechanics:

  • If your student is working on or has completed Junior Analytical Grammar and you’re ready to move to the next level, you can switch to the new Level 2: Mechanics
  • If your student has completed Junior Analytical Grammar and Junior Analytical Grammar: Mechanics, we encourage you to use the new placement tool before moving on. We suggest that your student successfully complete Activity 3 of the placement tool prior to ensure they are ready to move into Level 3: Parts of Speech.
