Why Don’t Spelling You See Sets Include Erasable Colored Pencils?

Previously, we included a set of erasable colored pencils, but we’ve recently made a change. Here’s why:

  1. Many Educators and Families Already Have Them: We found that a large number of parents and instructors already have a supply of erasable colored pencils on hand, either at home or in the classroom. Including them in every set created redundancy for many of our customers.
  2. Choice and Flexibility: The world of erasable writing tools has expanded! There are now a wide variety of erasable colored pencils, pens, and even highlighters available. We want students and instructors to have the freedom to choose the tools that best suit their individual needs and preferences. What works best for one student might not be ideal for another. By not including a specific brand, we empower you to explore and find your perfect writing companion for Spelling You See.

Which Writing Tools Are Best for Spelling You See?

Erasable writing tools are an ideal choice for Spelling You See for several important reasons:

  • Active Engagement with Errors: Spelling You See encourages students to actively engage with their spelling errors. The beauty of erasable colored pencils (or any erasable writing tool) is that they allow students to correct their mistakes directly in their workbooks. This process of erasing and rewriting is crucial for reinforcing correct spellings.
  • Careful Attention: The act of erasing and rewriting forces students to pay close attention to the letters they are forming and the correct spelling of the word. This focused attention is a key element in solidifying spelling skills.
  • Fun and Engaging: Let’s face it, using colored pencils is just more fun than plain old graphite! Adding a splash of color can make the learning process more enjoyable and motivating for students.

Beyond Colored Pencils:

While erasable colored pencils are a great option, they aren’t the only choice. Erasable colored pens and even erasable highlighters can also be effective tools for Spelling You See. Experiment and find what works best for your student! The key is to use an erasable writing instrument to maximize the learning benefits of the program.

We hope this clarifies why we no longer include erasable colored pencils in our Spelling You See bundles. We believe this change offers greater flexibility and allows you to personalize your student’s learning experience. If you love the colored pencils that used to be included in the sets, you can still purchase them in our online store.
