Strategies to Engage with Parents During the Week Using Demme Learning Resources

Parental involvement is crucial for a child’s academic success, and homeschool group instructors and administrators can play a key role in facilitating this. Demme Learning provides valuable resources to help parents actively participate in their child’s education. This article outlines strategies to effectively engage with parents throughout the week using Demme Learning resources.

Engagement Ideas

  • Share Weekly Learning Objectives or Themes: Begin the week by clearly communicating the learning objectives or themes to parents. This helps them understand the focus for the week and align their support accordingly. Encourage them to watch the Math-U-See lesson videos or other relevant materials.
  • Utilize Demme Learning’s Online Resources:
    • You have access to a variety of helpful tools designed to support your child’s learning throughout the week. The Digital Toolbox includes free Virtual Manipulatives, lesson videos, printable activities, and other digital resources that align with what your student is learning. You can also explore The Demme Learning Guild, which offers additional math activities and tips to keep learning engaging at home.
    • If you’re using our Early Access platform, you’ll find these same resources in a new layout that’s easier to navigate and more mobile-friendly. You can still use the original Digital Toolbox if you prefer. We welcome your feedback as we continue to improve the experience.
  • Create an Online Community: Establish a dedicated online community or forum where parents can connect. This platform fosters interaction, knowledge sharing, and mutual support among parents. Encourage parents to contribute to the online community by sharing achievement posts from home during the time away from the group activities. Offer a mid-week check-in or progress update to keep them informed and engaged.
  • Celebrate Achievements: Celebrate the week’s learning achievements by acknowledging and appreciating the child’s and parents’ efforts. At the end of each level, print the Math-U-See Completion Certificates from the Digital Toolbox and share them with your student’s parents.
  • Host Workshops or Information Sessions: Organize virtual or in-person workshops or information sessions to further educate parents about Demme Learning resources and methodologies.  Our team of Customer Service Specialists is always available to help you and your group overcome challenges and get the most out of our programs.

Consistent communication and engagement with parents are essential for successful learning outcomes, especially within homeschool groups. Encourage parents to continue utilizing Demme Learning resources and express appreciation for their active partnership in their child’s education. By implementing these strategies, you can create a supportive and engaging learning environment that benefits both the child and the parents.
