Getting Started with AIM: Multiplication
Accelerated Individualized Mastery (AIM): Multiplication with a Bridge to Division is a solution for students ten years old and over who struggle with basic math fact recall. This guide will help you prepare for your first lesson and get you started on the right path to understanding and math fact mastery.
- First, open the box and remove the materials.
- Next, redeem the Digital Pack Code to gain access to the digital materials in the Digital Toolbox. If you need help or are unsure how to redeem your code, check out this article.
- Navigate to the AIM: Multiplication Lesson 1 in the Digital Toolbox (Products → Accelerated Individualized Mastery → Multiplication → Lesson 1).
- Watch the Video: Getting Started and Before AIM Assessment (4:22 minutes). You can find this video under the AIM for Success heading.
- Complete the Before AIM Assessment with your child. The Assessment can be printed from the Digital Toolbox (Lesson One). It can also be found on pages 3-5 in the Resource Guide.
- Watch the following AIM For Success Videos. (Approximately 17 minutes, total)
- The Build Write Say Method (6:29 minutes)
- Fading From the Manipulatives (5:13 minutes)
- Mastery Check (4:57 minutes)
- Read pages 6-20 in the Resource Guide. Place a bookmark on pages 12-17, as you will be referring back to those pages as you go through the lessons.
- Watch the Video for Lesson One.
- Read the Instructions for Lesson One in the Resource Guide.
- Now you are ready to watch the video with your child and begin practicing that concept.
Note: Lesson times may vary. Lesson One usually takes less time as it focuses on learning the block colors and their values. Other lessons may take as long as two weeks or more. AIM was developed to work for your student in the timeline they need to be successful. Stay focused on mastery, not how long a lesson “should” be taking.
