Readiness and Review Materials: Algebra 1: PSM to Algebra 2: PSM

To ensure a seamless transition from Algebra 1: Principles of Secondary Mathematics (Algebra 2: PSM) to Algebra 2: Principles of Secondary Mathematics (Algebra 2: PSM), we provide a specialized component called Readiness & Review for Algebra 2. This material is designed to evaluate a student’s current understanding and shore up critical skills necessary for the rigor of the full Algebra 2: PSM course.

What is the Readiness & Review for Algebra 2 material?

Readiness & Review for Algebra 2 is an online resource available through your Demme Learning account. It functions similarly to the bridge materials used in previous levels and consists of:

  • A Readiness Check: A pre-test that evaluates the student’s mastery of essential Algebra 1 concepts.
  • 12 Review Lessons: Focused lessons covering topics like multi-step equations, exponent rules, factoring, and domain/range.
  • Digital Assets: Each review lesson includes online videos featuring off-screen presenters (both male and female), digital objectives, and printable student Lesson Pages.
  • Worked Solutions: Comprehensive solutions for both the Readiness Check and the review lessons to help instructors provide immediate feedback.

How much time do the review lessons take to complete?

The time required is individualized based on your student’s specific needs:

  • Per Lesson: These review lessons are designed to be brief—shorter than a standard lesson.
  • Total Time: If a student completes all 12 lessons, it is estimated to take approximately six learning sessions (averaging two lessons per session).
  • When to Begin: You should begin Readiness & Review for Algebra 2 prior to starting the Algebra 2 course. This ensures any gaps are filled before the student encounters new, complex material.

Where can I find the Readiness and Review or Algebra 2: PSM?

Because this is a digital product, you will not receive any physical books but you will need a printer to print lesson pages.

How do I know which review lessons my student would benefit from?

We provide two primary ways to determine your student’s path through the review material:

  1. The Readiness Check Method (Recommended): Administer the Readiness Check first. After the student finishes, use the provided Review Lessons Chart to match specific missed problems to the corresponding recommended Review Lessons.
  2. Instructor Discretion: If you are already aware of your student’s strengths and weaknesses, you may choose to skip the Readiness Check and assign specific lessons or all 12 lessons directly.
