How Do I Create a Group?

This guide applies specifically to users who want to purchase a Group Subscription Plan. Groups are the organizational hubs where you, as the Group Owner or Instructor, manage your students, instructors, and course assignments. Groups are typically used in settings like co-ops, schools, and tutoring organizations. If you are purchasing an Individual Subscription Plan or using a free account, you do not need to create a group to manage your own students and assignments. 

* If you haven’t created an account at  new.demmelearning.com, be sure to do so.  You’ll need to select a Free Individual Subscription.

1. Access the Groups Dashboard

Once you have signed in to your account at new.demmelearning.com as an Instructor:

• Navigate to the Dashboard on the left-hand sidebar.
• Select Groups.
• Click the Create Group button

• Enter a name for your group (e.g., “New Beginnings Co-Op” or “Mr. Smith’s Class Spring 2026 Math Section A”) and include a Description if you’d like.

• Select Next.

• Select your plan and click next.

3. Customize Subscription

• Add any additional Course Credits, Instructor Accounts, or Student Accounts now.

5. Understanding Roles Within Your Group

Before you start adding members, it’s helpful to understand the two primary management roles:

• Group Owner (Administrator): This is typically the person who purchased the subscription. You have full control over billing, adding/removing instructors, and managing all students and courses. You do not occupy an “Instructor Seat.”
• Instructor: These are additional teachers invited by the Owner to help manage students and assignments. They can add students and assign courses, but cannot change billing or subscription settings.

Can I Transfer Ownership of a Group?

No, Group ownership cannot be transferred to another user. If you would like to establish another administrator for a group, your preferred user will need to set up their own Group Subscription and populate it with the students and courses you need. Once the new group is created, you may cancel your original Group Subscription.
